How to recognize the starting view for working with projects and safely start your first project in Safety Software.

Working with projects in Safety Software usually begins on the Dashboard screen or directly in the Projects module. Here, the system shows whether your workspace is still empty or already contains starter data, and lets you move on to creating your first project.

Two possible starting scenarios

On a new account, you may see one of two valid scenarios:

  1. A completely empty state with no projects of your own yet.
  2. A tenant with a demo project created after registration, so you can get familiar with the system layout more quickly.

Both scenarios are consistent with how the application works. In practice, this means that not seeing a completely empty list is not an error if, after setup, you already see a sample demo project.

How to recognize the empty state

If there is no active project work in the workspace yet, on Dashboard you will see low or zero values on the indicator cards and a project section without real working data.

In the project view, the system then shows the following messages:

  • No projects yet,
  • „You do not have any projects yet. Create your first project to get started.”,
  • the main action New project.

On the dashboard, you may also see the empty state of the recent projects section:

  • No recently updated projects,
  • „Create your first project to start risk assessment according to EN ISO 12100.”,
  • the action Start from Template,
  • the action Import Project,
  • the action View Demo Project.

Where to start your first project

You can start your first project from several places:

  1. From the Dashboard screen using the main New project button.
  2. From the recent projects section using the View all action, and then the New project button.
  3. From the Projects module, where the same New project button appears above the project list.
  4. From the onboarding guide, if the step for creating your first project is active.

If you already see a demo project after registration, you can still create your own production project right away with the New project button. The demo project does not prevent you from starting real work.

Project start form

After clicking New project, the Add a new project screen opens. At the top of the form, there is also a Back button that lets you return to the previous view without saving changes.

On new accounts, the form includes an additional First project — tips panel with brief tips:

  • Project name: „Use a descriptive name, e.g. “Packaging line Model XY-2024”.”
  • Machine model: „Provide the exact model/type, e.g. “Packaging machine AP-500”.”
  • Manufacturer: „Select from the list or add a new one.”
  • After creating: „The system will guide you through the risk assessment process step by step.”

Minimum data required to get started

To save the project without validation errors, you mainly need to complete the fields required by the system:

In practice, it is also highly recommended to complete Machine model right away, because it makes it easier to identify the machine later in the project list and in the later stages of documentation.

The remaining fields, such as Serial/batch number pattern, Intended use and Reasonably foreseeable misuse, are worth adding as early as possible, but they are not the minimum requirement for starting work itself.

If the manufacturer is not yet on the list

In the Manufacturer field, you will see a list of existing manufacturers and the placeholder Select manufacturer....

If the correct company is not yet on the list:

  1. Click the Add a new manufacturer button next to the manufacturer field.
  2. In the Add manufacturer window, complete at least the Name field.
  3. Optionally complete Country.
  4. Confirm everything with the Save and select button.

This lets you add a manufacturer without leaving the project form.

Save and continue

After entering the data, click Save project.

If you are saving the first real project while onboarding is still active, the system usually:

  1. saves the project,
  2. displays the message „Congrats! Your first project has been created. Now start the risk assessment.”,
  3. takes you straight to starting the risk assessment for the newly created project.

If onboarding for the account is no longer active, the system may instead redirect you to the saved project preview. In practice, however, on newly created accounts you will most often be taken straight to the next stage of work, which is starting the risk assessment process.

What to check right after you start

After creating your first project, make sure that:

  1. the project name is clear and distinguishes the machine from other entries,
  2. the manufacturer has been assigned correctly,
  3. the year of construction is correct,
  4. the system took you to the next stage of work instead of leaving you at a dead end.
