A sound risk assessment needs one shared language across machine design, automation, health and safety, and compliance.

Definitions alone will not fix the problem when each person describes a hazard, hazardous event, protective measure or residual risk differently. The team needs to work through the same decisions it will face on a real machinery project.

We build the workshop around an agreed example. We show the team how to define the limits of the machinery, develop hazard scenarios, estimate and evaluate risk, plan risk reduction in line with the hierarchy of protective measures, and document the basis for each decision.

The training strengthens team capability, but it does not replace a complete risk assessment for a specific machine, technical validation or the manufacturer’s responsibility. Every participant receives a named certificate of completion confirming the programme covered. It is not a professional qualification, formal certification of competence or machine certification.

Who is the machine risk assessment training for?
It is designed for machine designers, automation engineers, safety engineers, health and safety professionals, quality and compliance teams, and anyone preparing machinery technical documentation. We tailor the programme to the group’s roles and experience.
Do participants need prior knowledge of ISO 12100?
No common starting level is required. Before the training, we establish the group’s experience and balance the fundamentals, practical exercises and real-world questions accordingly.
Can we use our own machine during the workshop?
Yes, provided we receive enough information in advance and agree which material may be used during the workshop. The example is there to teach the method—not to approve a complete risk assessment.
Is the training available remotely and in person?
Yes. The delivery format depends on the number of participants, the exercises involved and whether access to the machine is needed. We confirm the arrangements, tools and technical requirements in the proposal.
Does the training include using Safety Software?
We can demonstrate how the stages discussed are completed in Safety Software and run exercises in the system. We agree access, the training environment and any required licence before the training.
Do participants receive a certificate?
Yes. Every participant receives a named certificate of completion stating the training title and programme scope. It confirms completion of the training but is not a professional qualification, formal certification of competence or machine certification.
Does the programme include PL calculations to ISO 13849?
We explain where safety function analysis connects with risk assessment. Detailed design, PL calculations and ISO 13849 validation require a separate training programme or consultancy scope.
How are the duration and number of participants determined?
We set them according to the objective, the group’s experience, the number of exercises and the complexity of the example. After a short discussion, we propose a programme option, schedule and delivery arrangements.
